At Womanhood

  • I treat women of all ages with women’s health related conditions.

  • The most common areas I treat include: Pregnancy and Birth Prep, Postpartum Recovery, Menopause, Incontinence, Painful Sex, Pelvic Pain, Pelvic Organ Prolapse, Body Aches, Pains, & Injury. You can find a full list of treatment areas here.

The Process

  • Your first 75-minute appointment is about evaluating where you are and what brings you to physiotherapy. We’ll discuss your medical history, concerns, pelvic floor symptoms, bladder and bowel habits, sexual function, general health, activity level, and goals.

From there, with your consent, I’ll conduct an in-depth assessment to identify what's going on in your body. I’ll examine your posture, breathing, and see how you’re moving. This may include an examination of your spine, pelvis, hips, abdominals, and tests geared towards your individual goals. My goal is to find and treat the underlying cause of your symptoms, rather than just manage them.

With your informed consent, if indicated, I’ll perform an internal pelvic floor muscle exam to check the tension of your pelvic floor muscles, strength, coordination, and the quality of your contraction. If you don’t feel comfortable with an internal assessment or would prefer to leave it until another session, we can always work externally. Respecting your comfort and ensuring I have your ongoing consent is my primary focus. It is always up to you to determine what you feel comfortable with during our session.

I’ll explain my findings, and together we’ll co-create a care plan that addresses your top priorities and works towards your goals.

  • No, there is no pressure to have an internal examination if you are not comfortable. While an internal exam provides valuable information, you are in control, and I can assess you in other ways.

I often get asked if an internal is possible if you are menstruating, and the answer is yes. I see this regularly, and this is very normal for me! If you're uncomfortable with the idea and prefer not to have an internal exam on a given day, we can always work on other things during that session.

  • If you have no symptoms, scheduling a pregnancy check around the 20-week mark gives you plenty of time to address all aspects of your pelvic health.

If you're already past this point in your pregnancy, don't worry! It's never too late to prepare your pelvic floor and body for birth and recovery. From 34 weeks on, our focus will be on birth preparation (breathing, birthing positions to open the pelvic cavity, effective pushing techniques, and perineal massage).

If you’re experiencing any symptoms, scheduling an appointment after your first trimester is recommended.

  • I recommend waiting until you’ve had your 8-week check up with your Doctor.

  • Yes, of course. This can be helpful to assess your body mechanics when holding/nursing/picking up your baby, and we can use your baby for functional training as well.

Logistics

  • I currently treat on Mondays and Wednesdays from 07:00 to 14:00, and on Thursdays from 14:00 to 20:00 at Hue Therapy in Nørrebro, Copenhagen.

If you can’t find an available time online, please email me at rachel@womanhood.dk and I’ll do my best to accommodate you.

  • Womanhood is a clinic outside the collective agreement, meaning there is no subsidy from the public health insurance. You do not need a referral to book appointments for physiotherapy.

If you have private health insurance, you can inquire whether they cover all or part of physiotherapy. This usually requires a doctor's referral. Please send your treatment guarantee letter from your insurance company via email prior to your appointment or bring it with you to your first session.

    Health Insurance ‘Danmark’

If you are a member of ‘Danmark’, a subsidy is provided for physiotherapy. You get 133 kr for your first consultation and 88 kr for follow-up sessions. All consultations are automatically reported to Danmark.
